Towards A Brighter Tomorrowland

Dear my lovely readers, I want to take this moment to thank you for reading (and hopefully enjoying!) my Blog.

This will be my last post for a while, I hope you've found my entries interesting and that they've taught you that we are all responsible for the environmental and climate change around us, and more importantly that we DO have the power to make a change and contribute to their mitigation.

I will leave you with this inspirational speech from the Disney's (2015) Tomorrowland, in the hope it encourages you reflect on the issues we have discussed throughout my Blog and motivates you to stand up and fight for a brighter future.

So, will you "gobble" up the impending environmental and social catastrophe "like a chocolate eclair"?

Or will you help turn the possibility of a better future into a reality?

Just because the "future doesn't ask anything of you today", doesn't mean we should sit back and await its arrival.

  1. Haha "they didn't fear their demise, they repackaged it". That video is so true, we are willingly heading into catastrophe. "Simultaneous epidemics of obesity and starvation" - oh wow. Oh dear, we are indeed facing our future, and can't be bothered do anything which would require a change.
Will you be continuing your blog Caitlin? If anything, we need more advocates of the environment if we are change society's relationship with the environment and societal views on their responsibilities (and, I always think, rights) to the environment - so I hope you will continue, and hopefully encourage some positive change!

    1. I know, I thought that was such a great speech!
You're so right, even those who aren't skeptics of climate change still can't be bothered!
I think that after dissertation and exams I will definitely try and continue blogging yes!
I agree, I think often it's the case that wider society are unaware of their power to make change and also their responsibilities as citizens of the earth - it's too easy to blame big companies for their part and we often overlook our own role!
      Thanks Lucy!

  2. Hi Caitlin, I am sad to hear this is your last post! I hope you will start writing again soon!

I completely agree with you, we do have the power to change and mitigate climate change impacts. However, we all need to push for this to happen would you not agree? I feel if we leave it to the hands of the politicians this will just slow the process further. Would you agree with this? (P.S. Amazing Speech!)

    1. Hi Maria, thank you for your comment! - I hope to continue blogging again in the Summer!
Yes, I agree with you 100% - this is voiced in my posts concerning education and economic incentives - I think that sadly humanity do need a shove in the right direction and that only the minority will take it upon themselves to make the decision to contribute off their own back...
Yes, I think that more scientists and environmentalists need to be given the platform to raise awareness without politics getting in the way of the importance and heart of the message.
      P.S. I thought so too!
